The Post-Mortem
After every game, a real debrief.
The five to eight moments that decided the game, explained one by one. Any other move opens on request.
- The engine finds it. Stockfish decides what the best move was and how big the mistake is.
- Your Second explains it. The AI only puts words to facts the engine already established.
- A checker gates the text. Explanations that contradict the engine are rejected before you see them.
You were winning here. The queen left the back rank while their rook still had an open file. Before a queen move, check what it stops guarding.

Straight answers
Questions people ask first.
Does the AI make up moves?
No. Stockfish, a chess engine, picks every move and judges every mistake. The AI never chooses a move. It receives the engine’s facts and explains them in words, and a checker rejects explanations that do not match the engine. The AI can still phrase things poorly, so use your own judgment too.
Will Gambit make me a grandmaster?
Almost certainly not, and we will not pretend otherwise. Gambit is designed to help you find and fix what is holding you back, so the next 200 rating points come faster.
Where do my games come from?
You enter your Chess.com or Lichess username, paste a PGN, or share a screenshot of a board. Gambit reads public game data for the usernames you give it. It never asks for your Chess.com or Lichess password.
What do you do with my data?
We store your account, the games you import and the analysis of them so the app can coach you. Text about your games goes to an AI provider only to write explanations. We do not track you across other apps and websites, and there is no advertising. Details are in the privacy policy.
Is it free?
There is a free tier so you can meet Your Second. Paid tiers unlock more Post-Mortems and coaching. See pricing. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in your Apple ID settings.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, inside the app: Settings, then Delete Account. Steps and an email fallback are on the deletion page.
Is it for kids?
Gambit is for ages 13 and up.
